The Reggio Philosophy in ABG (PDF)
My personal goal is to become the best that I can be, providing a
quality childcare learning environment in which I continue to educate and evaluate myself on childcare issues, and best adapt
policies and procedures that accommodate families and encompass
the needs of the whole child. Partnering with parents, we are investing time and understanding in children who are always busy growing and learning.
Always Busy Growing (ABG)'s philosophy most resembles the
Reggio Emilian and
Marie Montessori philosophies because I believe that, "if we give the child interesting tools to work with, the child will have the interest and the determination to work with those tools until the skill is mastered." The scientific roots of this idea are backed by famed cognitivists such as Montessori, Dewy, Malagossi, Piaget, and Vygotsky. A child is viewed as intelligent, capable, and an
active participant in their own learning.
ABG
operates on the premise that learning is self-directed and that children learn best within a
lightly structured environment. ABG takes the cues of the child and strategizes ways to enhance and scaffold his/her learning, both individual and within a small group. By offering choices and age-appropriate toys, the child will grow physically, socially, and emotionally. ABG offers many tools/supplies and the use of educational equipment to encourage children's hands-on experiences in order to grow and develop their skills.
ABG is filled with love, offering the child nurturing and security for his/her emotional well-being, as well as expanding on their curiosities by proposing projects that both challenge their creativity and excite them. ABG
does not discriminate enrollment based on race, creed, national origin, sex, or religious affiliation.
I welcome parent input in my program. Working together we are helping raise our future (our children).
